Patching to start on Sagle bike path

| July 3, 2016 1:00 AM

SAGLE — Sagle cyclists should plan to take an alternative route over the next few weeks as Bonner County Public Works and Idaho Transportation Department undertake a long-overdue patching project along the Sagle to Sandpoint bike path.

Funded with a grant from Idaho Parks and Recreation Trails Program and contributions from Avista, Northern Lights, the Idaho Transportation Department and North Idaho Bikeways, the project will start July 5. Steve Klatt, director of Bonner County Department of Parks and Waterways, says the path project should be finished by the end of the month.

This will be the first time the Sagle to Sandpoint route has undergone extensive repairs since it was first built more than 14 years ago, Klatt said. Cracking due to tree roots, sunken spots and general decay are the primary drivers of the patching project.
