Garfield Bay got off to an early and enthusiastic start Saturday morning with the pancake feed fueling the parade. As the crowd swirled around the bay during the day, it took some work to keep boat trailer parking open to boat trailers and cars parked on just one side of the road, but we did manage to keep traffic moving until fireworks were exploding. I want to thank everyone for their cooperation, whether given willingly or begrudgingly, because most everyone was cooperative.

I would like to commend the clean-up efforts of all involved early on Sunday morning because the picnic area and the beach were both in remarkably good shape just as the bay came to life for the day. I would also like to thank the sheriff’s deputy who showed up at a good time in the evening and with a good attitude toward a large crowd having a good time.

In an earlier interview with the Bonner County Daily Bee, I was remiss to not have distinguished clearly between Bonner County’s concerns for public safety issues during evening beach activities rather than the family oriented entertainment during the day that attracts multiple generations. Many families gathered again this year in Garfield Bay to participate and enjoy.

Thanks again for the cooperation I received.
