The Guardians Foundation, a Post Falls-based organization, has been soliciting donations in Bonner County for quite some time. In recent articles in The Daily Bee, there have been different answers given to the same questions asked of TGF.

For example, what is the cost of the Kootenai House? Michael Shaw, CEO of TGF, stated $20,000/year in a front page Bee article, but he told another person it was $12,000/year, the $12,000/year was verified by Penny Poitras, TGF-paid employee.

I have emailed Shaw some questions I’d like answered, after a period of time Penny emailed me and refused to answer any of my questions. One question that went unanswered, “What kind of revenue do you generate for the year?” I went to the IRS Tax Form 990N, which is public information. The TGF 2010 revenue was $7,840, ended year with $667. In 2011, revenue of $393,270, spent $81,900 on professional fundraising, ending year with $201,936 balance — $109,434 unexplained as to how utilized. In 2012, revenue was $431,078, spent $181,141 on professional fundraising, ending year with $179,379 balance — $70,558 unexplained how utilized. In 2013, revenue was $655,838, spent $199,612 on professional fundraising, ending year with $226,423 balance — $229,803 unexplained how utilized. Quite a jump for 2013 unexplained how utilized.

Other questions for Shaw, who pays for your car insurance, vehicle, gas, cellphone, food, clothing, medical and dental care, computer, lodging, travel? Plus many more questions that have gone unanswered by TGF.
