Summer sizzles with outdoor fun, music and more

SANDPOINT — Although recent weather patters would lead one to believe otherwise, it really is summer in Sandpoint. Lots of outdoor activities and concerts coming up, including Farmer’s Market, Summer Sounds at Park Place and the Northwest Winefest at Schweitzer. In addition, there’s the usual stellar lineup of movies and music to keep us busy. Have a look and plan accordingly!

Thursday, July 14

‘Love & Friendship’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7:30 p.m., Thursday

Lady Susan Vernon takes up temporary residence at her in-laws’ estate and, while there, is determined to be a matchmaker for her daughter Frederica — and herself, too, naturally. Set in the 1790s and based upon Jane Austen’s novella ‘Lady Susan.’ Starring Kate Beckinsale, Chloe Sevigny, Xavier, and more. Rated PG

Anna Armstrong and other Kalispel elders will be guiding this two-hour tour to their homeland, Pend d’Oreille Bay to Kootenai Point and beyond. Includes a Indian taco picnic.

Underground Kindness Fundraising Gala

Shangri La at the Lake is UK’s fundraiser supporting programs in our public schools, the Juvenile Justice Center, and The Afterschool Project. In the 2015-16 school year UK presented over 400 classes!

Everyone is welcome for this fun, family friendly evening of eating, drinking, and dancing, live and silent auctions, and presentations by Compassionists, Educators, and Students. With your support, Underground Kindness will make more than 10,000 student contacts in the 2016/17 school year.
