Klein completes solo flight

| July 15, 2016 1:00 AM

Pilot Training Northwest student Gavin Klein completed his first solo in an airplane recently at the Sandpoint Airport. Klein, who graduated from Sandpoint High School in June, will attend North Idaho College at the Aerospace Center for Excellence.

For every pilot, the first time flying a plane with no one else onboard is memorable. “Gavin’s flight was fantastic. He did everything very well,” said his instructor, Ken Larson.

Klein has been training with Pilot Training Northwest, LLC and participated in the North Idaho High School Aerospace Program through high school, a program open to middle-and high school students from North Idaho.

Klein’s plane, owned and operated by Pilot Train-ing North-west, LLC, is a Zenair, Zodiac CH601XL. This factory-built, FAA-certified aircraft is a low-wing, two-seat plane which is used for flight training leading to a private pilot or sport pilot license.

“We are very proud of Gavin and his hard work in our program was on display as he made this great first solo,” Larson concluded.
