Elizabeth Mae Berger, 86

Elizabeth Mae Berger was born to Fred and Elizabeth Porath in Richland County, N.D., on July 14, 1930. She passed away on July 14, 2016, at Bonner General Health in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Memorial graveside services will be conducted at a later time in the Clark Fork Cemetery in Clark Fork, Idaho.

The family moved to North Idaho in the late 1930s. Elizabeth attended schools in the Kootenai, Idaho, and Sandpoint area and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1948.

She married Ralph Berger on Dec. 26, 1950, and moved with him to the various Air Force bases that he was stationed at during his military service.

Dur-ing her lifetime Elizabeth worked for Pacific Northwest Bell Phone Company, J.C. Penney, Sandpoint Livestock Company and Nu-Way Enterprises.

She was active in the Kootenai Ladies Aid, Kootenai Parent-Teachers Organization, Pack River Grange and local 4-H organizations.

Elizabeth raised registered Herford cattle on her farm for many years. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, country music, pinochle parties and current events.

She was preceded In death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; a sister, Phyllis Porath; her mother-in-law, Lillian Berger; her brothers-in-law, Robert Berger, Darius Williams, and Gene Thurlow; and a sister-in-law, May Knutson.

She is survived by her children, daughter Deed Hall (Chris Froh), daughter Nan Berger (Mike Borysewicz), and son William Berger; brother, Dennis Porath; her sisters-in-law, Ann Berger, Barbra Porath, Bernita Williams, and Genevieve Thurlow; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She made her home at the Bridge Assisted Living for the past few years. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff for the great care that they gave to Elizabeth during her stay. A special thank you to Dr. Jade Dardine and Dr. Jason Roth for their excellent care.

The family suggests memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Panhandle Animal Shelter.
