Spots available for science camp

SANDPOINT — As the lazy days of summer begin to wear thin, Sandpoint Parks and Rec is offering students a golden chance to rev up their thinking caps as they immerse themselves in the wonderful world of outdoor science.

All About Elements is a day camp scheduled for Aug. 22 through 26 that will take place from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Lakeview Park. Spaces are still available for girls and boys ages 8 to 14.

Participants will "perform experiments; some fizz, others will pop. They will use the scientific method and tools such as the periodic table to investigate earth, air, water and fire. It’s a hands on opportunity to investigate, explore and learn how these elements are used today," according to the course description.

The cost it $85 less a $5 discount for city residents. The registration deadline is Aug. 15.
