A festival of entertainments abound in community

SANDPOINT — Crazy Days brings a crazy lineup of entertainment options this week! Tonight, check out dinner theatre at the Panida Little Theater, Friday includes a dinner concert at DiLuna’s and Saturday brings us the big Crazy days sale in front of the Panida, plus four bands — count ‘em, four! — appearing downtown from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. for Summer Sounds at Park Place.

Every single Sandpoint music venue has a solid roster of talent, kicking off tonight and running through the weekend.

And, we take a sneak peek forward into next week, as we prepare for that fantastic outdoor concert series we know and love as The Festival at Sandpoint.

Thursday, July 28

Dinner Theater

Venue: Panida Little Theater, 304 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6 p.m., Thursday

The Panida Playhouse invites you to enjoy a live theatre performance of ‘Charades at Five’ written by John Waterman and directed by Jeremiah Campbell. Dinner catered by Bistro at Home.

Ron Greene

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6-8 p.m., Thursday

Join Ron on the patio for a groovy, soulful mix of music.

Ben Olson

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., Sandpoint

Time: 7-9 p.m., Thursday

Ben Olson normally plays in his band Harold’s IGA, but every once in awhile plays solo with a collection of originals and covers that don’t normally get played out in Sandpoint.

Admission: Free and open to those 21 and over.

Brian Jacobs & Friends

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Friday, July 29

Korby Lenker dinner concert

Venue: DiLuna’s Cafe, 207 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m., Friday

Nationally known touring musician and author Korby Lenker has shared the stage with luminaries such as Willie Nelson, Nickel Creek, Martina McBride and Keith Urban.

Admission: $12 in advance, $15 on the day of show, available a DiLuna’s Café. Be sure to make reservations, these dinner shows do sell out, by calling 208-263-0864.

The Strangled Darlings

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5:30-8:30 p.m., Friday

Take a cello and making it a hip hop bass. Take a mandolin and slap it like a stubborn mule. This Portland-based duo has been creating original tunes since 2009 and breaking the mold for what hipsters consider Indie music.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Miah Kohal Band

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m., Friday

Rock n’roll on the patio!

Admission: Free for those 21 and over.

The Other White Meat

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., Sandpoint

Time: 7-10 p.m., Friday

This classic rock and roll band from North Idaho has been around since the early 1990s, opening for such acts as Styx, REO Speedwagon, The Doobie Bros. and Ted Nugent.

Admission: Free and open to those 21 and over.

Dave Walsh

Venue: Connie’s Café deck, 323 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Play It Again, Panida

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: All day, Saturday

Crazy Days Summer Sounds concerts

Downtown Sandpoint is always a blast for Crazy Days, this week, it’s also chock full of great music!

Ben & Cadie

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5:30-8:30 p.m., Saturday

While playing as a duo, Ben and Cadie feature originals influenced by gypsy folk ballads, as well as a unique list of covers that highlight a variety of different instruments.

Brian Ernst

Venue: Sandpoint Farmers Market, Farmin Park, Third Ave. & Oak St., downtown Sandpoint.

Nothing says summer in Sandpoint like a stroll around the Farmers Market, great people, incredible local food, amazing crafts and artwork and live music. Be there!

Bright Moments Jazz

Bright, upbeat jazz, hence the name!

Jake Robin

Sunday Celebration

Venue: Farmin Park, Third & Main, in Sandpoint.

This Sunday’s event will showcase live music, hosted by Brother Music on harp guitar and Native American flute. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and your friends.

The Mavericks & Asleep at the Wheel

Venue: Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, 1001 W. Sprague Ave., in Spokane.

The Mavericks and Asleep at The Wheel are teaming up to present an unforgettable summer concert of western swing and country pop favorites.

Show Camp

Venue: Lakeview Park, next to Memorial Field, in Sandpoint.

Time: 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Aug. 1-5

Under the direction of Darla Dreyer, a former Disney Choreographer/Director, camp participants will work on acting, dancing, comedy routines and skits, an opening production number and song presentation. Camp will end with a performance for family and friends. Don’t miss the fun! Participants should bring a sack lunch, water bottle, and wear comfortable shoes.

The Festival presents ‘Peter and the Wolf’ featuring the Festival Community Orchestra and Sandpoint’s Studio One Dancers. Favorite pre-concert activities include the Instrument Petting Zoo, an animal petting zoo, pony rides, clowns, face painting and games galore.
