Lenker brings indie sound to Di Luna's

| July 28, 2016 1:00 AM

Korby Lenker will be performing Friday at Di Luna’s Cafe, 207 Cedar.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and there is a separate charge for dinner.

The firstborn son of a mortician and a school marm, Lenker is a skilled multi-instrumentalist and an award-winning songwriter. Born and raised in Twin Falls, Lenker is a dynamic, compelling performer. Sometimes up on tip toe, sometimes singing in a hush, his performances are known for being engaging and personal, transparent and elevating.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer likened his voice to “cool lemonade on a hot summer day” — the same year he shared the stage with Willie Nelson at Marymoor park.

Korby released his sixth full-length record in March of 2014, and has been touring heavily since. In February he signed a licensing deal with Secret Road, and shortly afterward his song If I Prove False to You was added to rotation on Sirius XM “The Coffeehouse”. Another track, Forbidden Fruit appeared on two episodes of AMC Family’s “The Fosters.” Music and Musicians Magazine dubbed Korby “Who’s Next” in their June 2014 issue. Korby released his fifth official video this year, for the quirky “Here We Go Again.”

A longtime writer of fiction and memoir, Korby has written a book of short stories based on his 14 years of life as a touring indie musician. Entitled “Medium Hero”, it comes out on Turner Publishing in December 2015. (quotes below)

Korby has performed internationally and has shared the stage with such legends as Willie Nelson and Ray Lamontagne, as well as Nickel Creek, Tristan Prettyman, Susan Tedeschi, and many others. He recently acquired a tour partner, a black kitten named Dempsey.
