SANDPOINT — The fall sports season is right around the corner, and per usual, a bevy of teams figure to be in the running for state hardware. But first things first, including a couple of important dates next week.

Reduced price sports physicals will be offered on Tuesday, Aug. 2, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. at Pinegrove Medical Building (606 N. 3rd St., next to Bonner General Hospital). The physicals, offered just once for far less than what you pay at any hospital, will take place from 6-8 p.m. for just $10 each.

Athletes need to bring their immunization record and a parent, with immunizations available for those that need them. All 9th and 11th graders, as well as any new students, must have a new physical after May 1, 2016 to participate in fall sports.

The following day, on Wednesday, Aug. 3, is the Sandpoint High School registration day for all sports (fall, winter and spring), from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at SHS.

Student athletes will receive their student ID cards (be prepared to take picture) and purchase their ASB sticker for $40, which is required for sport participation. Yearbooks ($50) and Century Club cards ($125) will also be available for purchase, but are not mandatory to participate.

The first day of practice for soccer and football is Aug. 8 for grades 9-12. The first day of practice for volleyball, cross country and swimming is Aug. 12. The Red/White football family day, with team and individual pictures, will be held on Aug. 20, and Meet the Bulldogs on Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. at venerable War Memorial Field.
