Sandpoint Middle School announces fall sports info

| July 29, 2016 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The fall sports season is still more than a month away, but anyone entering the 7th or 8th grade wishing to participate in Sandpoint Middle School sports starting in the fall needs to be aware of the following dates and obligations.

There will be a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 2:30 p.m. in the SMS gym with coaches for cross country, volleyball, golf and tennis on hand.

Any student wishing to join a program you must have the following in order to practice: 7th graders must have a current physical dated no earlier than May 1; 8th graders may use the one from 7th grade year, but the school must have a copy on file. Participants must have proof of medical insurance or they will not be allowed to participate until proof is received.

Discount physicals are offered on Aug. 2 at the Pinegrove Medical Building (see above story) for any prospective athletes who need one.

Participants must maintain a ‘C’ average to stay eligible for any contests and practices. All participants must also purchase an ASB card from the office for $25.

Volleyball will have an ‘A’ team and a ‘B’ team in both 7th and 8th grade, and the popular tennis and cross country programs never turn away anyone who wants to play.
