Yard sale to aid BHT programs
SANDPOINT — Last year, Lake Pend Oreille School District officials reported that 155 students were homeless for at least part of the year.
Today and Saturday, Bonner Homeless Transitions, formerly called Transitions in Progress Services, will hold a huge yard sale to help fund its facilities and programs. Area residents are invited to stop by to grab a few bargains and help get people off the streets in the process. All proceeds will benefit Bonner Homeless Transitions.
The sale will be on the Sandpoint United Methodist Church “yard” at the corners of Boyer and Cedar and Main in Sandpoint. We will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Bonner Homeless Transitions provides transitional housing and case management for individuals and families to help them move from homelessness to permanent housing. Last year, BHT provided more than 14,000 “bed nights” for the homeless in Bonner County — more than 60 percent of which were provided to children.
