AREA JOINTS JUMP WITH GOOD MUSIC, FILMS AND FUN
SANDPOINT — June arrives with a bang, starting tonight with the Friends of Scotchman Peaks bash tonight. Speaking of friends, Friends of the Library has a massive book sale on tap for this Saturday morning and POAC prepares to celebrate all tings cultural at its Art Party Saturday night.
Sunday brings both the art-related Sunday Celebration at Farmin Park and the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint classical concert at First Lutheran Church and the Panida and Panida Little Theater are showing films.
And music venues? They’re all jumpin’ this week, beginning this evening and rolling through the weekend.
Thursday, June 2
State of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness Meeting
Venue: Forrest M. Bird Charter School, 614 S. Madison Ave.

This yearly affair is a chance for FSPW staff to give an update on the Scotchman Peaks wilderness proposal, which has made some exciting progress in the past year, including legislative progress, stewardship projects, education and outreach.
The keynote speaker for the State of the Scotchmans program this year is Bruce Smith, a leading authorities on mountain goats and author of ‘Life On The Rocks’, a brand new book on the subject.
Complimentary appetizers from the charter school catering department will be served and Eichardt’s will offer a no-host bar.

Friends of the Library Book Sale
Venue: East Bonner County Library-Sandpoint Branch, 1407 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

This sale will be a special event utilizing two venues: Inside the library and inside the garage of the newly purchased, two-story structure just west of the library. Inside will feature cookbooks, art books, coffee table books and westerns. Books to be sold in the garage are available due to the generosity of the owners of the now-closed Common Knowledge bookstore. Because of the very large number of books in the garage, they will be sold by the box, not by individual volumes. The boxes will be priced between $1 and $5, depending on size.
