BBQ to aid teen center
SANDPOINT — Local business owners are offering residents a down-home Southern meal and the chance to support one of Sandpoint's most worthy causes.
"Owners of Huckleberry Lanes, Corrie & Rayman Kinman, are hosting a fundraiser for the Sandpoint Teen Center, and we'd love it if you'd purchase a plate and support our neighbors. The Sandpoint Teen Center is a great place for our kids to hang out after school. If you haven't stopped by yet, head on over. You'll love it for your kids!," said the Kinmans on their Facebook page.
Corrie will be grilling southern-style chicken quarters Saturday at the bowling alley, 120 S. Division Ave., from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Just $15 buys a plate of chicken, potato salad, baked beans and brownies baked by Teen Center teens. It also covers one free bowling game and a raffle ticket with the chance to win one of five prizes, she said.
Lucky ticket holders will win two tickets to Silverwood, a handmade quilt, bike rentals for two from Sports Plus, a bowling birthday party or a round of golf and cart rental at the Elks Club. Sandpoint Elks will also bring the drug awareness van to the fundraising event.
"I'm from Texas, and down there, someone has a barbecue fundraiser like this just about every week," said Kinman. "The money will go to help the Teen Center buy their building."
