June 2, 1966 — NEW SANDPOINT DENTIST
Sandpoint will have another dentist who is engaged this week in setting up his office in the new Medical Center building at First and Superior. He is Richard R. Neuder, D.D.S., who has been practicing in Detroit for the past six years. He took his undergraduate work at Wayne University in Detroit and completed his dental schooling at the University of Detroit.
Dr. and Mrs. Neuder and their three-and-a-half-year-old son, Steven, decided to come to Sandpoint after having stopped over here several times enroute to and from Detroit to Seattle where Mrs. Neuder’s parents live.
The Neuders like the recreation advantages that abound here. One of the first questions he asked was, “How is fishing?”

June 2, 1916 — HURT BY EXPLOSION
Ole Benedickson and Fred Torkelson, city employees, were seriously burned, and narrowly escaped death by the explosion of sewer gas at the septic tank Sunday. The men were doing some repair work in the pump room adjoining the tank, when a lighted candle ignited the gas rising from the tank. The explosion hurled Torkelson upward through a trap door to the floor above, howbeit doing him no great injury aside from the burns. Benedickson, with Torkelson’s assistance, climbed the ladder to safety, although severely burned. The fire department was called out but the conflagration was over before its arrival, and but little damage was done to the plant.

FLOWER THIEVES RUIN GARDENS
A number of hoodlums have stolen flowers in the past week or two, the gardens of several residents being nearly ruined by the petty thieves. Charles Olson reports the robbers visited his residence at 401 Church Sunday night and took nearly every flower he had, and the gardens of R.S. McCrea (413 S. Second), Mrs. Nellie Prater (413 Lake) and others have been cleaned out. Rewards for information have been offered.
