Early registration set for Sandpoint swim lessons

Registration for the second session of swim lessons is taking place at the Sandpoint Parks and Recreation office at Sandpoint City Hall, 1123 Lake St.

Registration will be first come first serve. Kids need not be present at registration. Family rates and partial scholarships will be available. Session 2 lessons will take place Aug. 1-4, and Aug. 8-11. Registration deadline is July 22.

Sandpoint Parks and Recreation swim lessons are designed to teach basic swimming skills to students of all abilities with special emphasis on water safety. Parents must get in the water with their child for the Parent Tot class. Class is held Monday through Thursday for two weeks, with Fridays reserved for weather make-ups. All lessons are held in open water at City Beach.

Offerings include:

• Parent and Tot Class for ages 1-3 begins at noon. Fee is $27 (25-minute class)

• Perch Class for ages 3-5 begins at noon. Fee is $37 (40-minute class)

• Perch Class for ages 3-5 begins at 1 p.m. Fee is $37 (40-minute class)

• Rainbow Trout Class for ages 6-12 (beginner through competent floaters) begins at 2 p.m. Fee is $37 (40-minute class)

• Kokanee Class for ages 6-12 (competent floaters through advanced)/ teen/adult begins at 3 p.m. Fee is $37 (40-minute class)

Sandpoint residents will receive a $3/child discount from above listed fees.

A parent letter detailing procedure for classes canceled due to weather will be provided at registration.
