June 7, 1966 — NEW CAR LOT OPENED
The formal opening of the Sandpoint Motor Company’s new used car display lot at the corner of Fourth and Cedar takes place today.
The lot which takes in a full half block was the former site of a pioneer hotel, the Ponderay, which was razed, the lot filled and then paved.
Sandpoint Motor Co. has been serving the motoring public of the area for some 35 years under the management of the Parker family. Jack Parker succeeded to the management spot when his father, the late O. B. Parker passed away several years ago.

NATIONAL PARKS HIGHWAY DEDICATED
The dedication of the National Parks Highway last Sunday in Chicago by smashing a bottle of lake water on the pavement at the corner of Michigan Boulevard and Twenty-Third street was the culmination of a series of events celebrating the departure of the touring party which will make the trip over the National Parks highway from Chicago to Puget Sound, arriving in Sandpoint about June 30. One of the two cars which will bear the party across the continent has big letters on either side advertising the highway: “See America first — National Parks Highway — Chicago, Twin Cities, Spokane, Seattle, Tacoma.”
