One of the hundreds of Lake Pend Oreille School District elementary school students cheers from the stands as runners pass during the district track meet recently in Clark Fork. The one-day meet features sprints, a relay, softball throw and long jump, with the top area third through sixth graders on hand to compete. If only it were possible to harness the boundless energy on display, with students from Northside, Southside, Washington, Farmin-Stidwell, Sagle, Hope and Kootenai Elementary schools enjoying a vintage sunny day out of the classroom.
