Wurm named chamber's top volunteer
SANDPOINT — At the Greater Chamber of Commerce, volunteers are essential to the chamber’s success. Without the hard work and dedication of everyone, the chamber could not accomplish all that it does. With that in mind, we want to thank those willing to go above and beyond to help our programs and events be successful.
The chamber’s board of directors is pleased to announce Jesse Wurm as the chamber’s June Volunteer of the Month for her leadership and her commitment to the chamber and the community. A relatively new Sandpoint resident from Whitefish, Mont., Wurm has made her reputation as “Millennial in Motion” in the chamber business community, breaking all the stereo-typical image of the younger generation. She is always willing to serve whenever and wherever needed. As a volunteer, she has generously contributed countless volunteer hours to help make the events at the chamber successful. We thank her for her valuable contribution of her time and expertise.
As a co-chair of events and marketing for the 7B Women Committee, she continues to bring fresh attitude and energy to the committee and demonstrates her outstanding talents. The 7B Women has seen a remarkable increase in the group’s luncheon attendance since her joining, and they have been organizing more events to raise funds for local charities.
“Jesse is innovative and engaging. We are fortunate to have Jesse as not only a part of the 7B Women and the Chamber, but also the community as a whole,” said Patty Hutchens of the 7B Women Committee, “the older members of the 7B Women committee are grateful she has adopted us all as her ‘aunties.’ ”
Wurm also took the role of the secretary for the Leadership Sandpoint class of 2016-2017, which raised over $40,000 for the Sandpoint Teen Center.
“Jesse pursues everything with intense passion and I am pretty sure that ‘no’ is not in her vocabulary,” Bonner County Daily Bee Publisher Jim McKiernan said. “I feel very fortunate to call her a friend and fellow Leadership classmate.”
As a project coordinator at Selle Valley Construction, where she just celebrated her two-year anniversary, she has a keen attention to detail and puts projects together on time and on budget. She has also maintained and created solid, mutually satisfying business relationships with the construction companies, a wide range of property owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors throughout greater Sandpoint area.
Wurm is also an active member in her community and enjoys volunteering when her schedule allows. She is eager to get more involved in helping local and global charitable causes, believing it takes effort and action to create the changes needed in the community and the world. She has set a goal to achieve a record attendance at this year’s 7B Women Conference and working hard to attain the goal. When not working, Wurm enjoys outdoor activities and exploring the beautiful North Idaho.
