City to clean out cupboards
SANDPOINT — One person's abandoned property is bound to be another's treasure when the city auctions, sells, donates or discards the items in its lost and found department. In keeping with regulations, officials are declaring their intent to dispense with the surplus property that has accumulated in various departments.
"City Council hereby declares as surplus the city-owned personal property identified by city staff as found and unclaimed, abandoned, outdated, or non-working, a list of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully incorporated herein," the resolution going for approval said.
Bicycles and backpacks are among the items gathering dust at the police department. Light bars, wiring, jewelry and clothes are also taking up space.
The legal department has excess office supplies and furnishings plus clocks, computer equipment and outdated legal manuals.
Parks and Rec is set to clear out 100 metal chairs plus two folding chair racks.
Public Works has old street signs, a crack sealing machine, two trucks and hydraulic hoses on offer. A raft of old Dell computers and peripherals complete the city's list of surplus, outdated or unclaimed items.
City Council members are scheduled to approve or deny and the public property dispersal resolution at this week's meeting. Meanwhile, stay tuned for more information regarding the auction/sale of abandoned and surplus city property.
