An ad in the print edition of The Coeur d’Alene Press has crossed the line and become news.

The full-page advertisement published Saturday features a Salt Lake City businessman stating he’s looking for a wife who is “ready, willing and able to have children as soon as possible.”

According to the ad, Baron Brooks, a 48-year-old health-food and nutritional supplement retailer, has some strict requirements for his future mate.

“You must be politically conservative. This is very important to me,” the ad states. “If you voted for Obama or plan to vote for Hillary, you are not for me.”

Interested ladies must be also be willing to relocate to Salt Lake City, and they will be expected to stay at home with the kids.

It’s unclear, however, if these “musts” are actually what Brooks is looking for in a wife, or traits his father thinks his daughter-in-law should have.

Brooks’ dad, Arthur, placed the ad.

Brooks reportedly told a local TV station reporter and a Spokane newspaper reporter that he was unaware of his father’s matchmaking scheme. He said although is embarassed by the ad, he will go along with the plan.

Illustrated with a photo of a dark-haired, younger Brooks, the ad says he now has gray hair.

Potential spouses are asked to schedule an interview with Brooks’ father, Arthur. The interviews will be held Saturday at The Coeur d’Alene Resort.

Arthur Brooks did not give interviews on Monday, but indicated he would talk to members of the media on Sunday, after the interviews have taken place.
