Prize money now offered at 5th annual Haden's Heart Fun Run
CLARK FORK — What better way to start your 4th of July festivities than by taking part in the 5th Annual 5K Haden’s Heart Fun Run, which starts at 7 a.m. at the Clark Fork Library.
The fundraising run is in memory of Haden Kistler, who was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer and died while a 7th grader at Clark Fork Jr./Sr. High School. He left behind a lot of great memories and friends, many of whom take part in the run each year.
This year there is new incentive in the form of cash prizes: $100 for first place overall, then $75 for 1st, $50 for 2nd & $25 for third in each category. The 5K race includes a couple of climbs, along with some of the nicest scenery the area has to offer.
After the race, participants usually stay around for the famous Clark Fork July 4th parade, which starts at 9:30 a.m. and is followed by games and booths in the school yard and the park.
For it’s first four years, the memorial fun run has funded scholarships for Clark Fork High School seniors in honor of Haden. Staring this year, the proceeds will also help fund The Filling Station Youth Center in Clark Fork.
The entry fee is $25, which includes a T-shirt. To sign up ahead of time to insure a T-shirt in your preferred size, go to www.hadensheartfunrun.com for an entry form. Participants may also sign up the morning of the event.
