What a wonderful opportunity for all 100-plus participants.
The University of Idaho Extension Office provided goodie bags for everyone filled with treasures from any of our local businesses and a 50th anniversary mug to mark the special occasion.
We started the day with a full country pancake breakfast provided by the Bonner County Fairgrounds employees. We visited Woods Hay and Grain operation; and Wildwood Grilling, the largest worldwide production of plank grilling.
We stopped a the Clark Fork Center for a super great beef lunch and homemade pies provide3d by the Bonner County Cattlewomen. Following the itinerary, we visit the Mountain Cloud Farm and the Bear Hill Farm. On these two farms, they supply much of their produce to the Sandpoint Farmers Market and U-pick fruits and vegetables.
The interesting part of the whole day is that each of the operations are all young, eager, energetic people returning to their roots — the land — and creating very successful businesses. I would highly recommend when the farm tour is scheduled for next year to just do it.
Thank you to everyone who made it possible.
