Democrats believe in freedom, justice for all

I’m chair of the Bonner County Democrats. A recent letter to the editor by Steve Hatcher stating what Democrats stand for is wrong and misleading. It is not who we are. Here are some issues we believe in.

Bonner County Democrats believe in a strong economy with a thriving middle class. Creating jobs that pay an adequate wage matters. To have more people employed you need more employers. Government has a role in creating and supporting an environment that nurtures entrepreneurs and start-uppers, thereby providing them the opportunity to succeed. Stimulating consumer demand by higher minimum wages is also important as low-income consumers with more money spend it locally.
