Engel to play football at College of Idaho

| March 1, 2016 6:00 AM

SANDPOINT — With 4.5 speed in the 40 yard dash and a 34 inch vertical jump, it’s easy to see why the College of Idaho wanted him to play safety next season, as Sandpoint senior Colton Engel received both athletic and academic scholarships recently to play football next fall for the Coyotes of the Frontier Conference.

Engel, who finished last season with 51 tackles, 16 pass break ups, two forced fumbles and an interception, will most likely play safety, but like most defensive backs, could always be asked to play corner. Either way, he’s just happy to know he’ll get a chance to pad back up in the future and continue playing the game he loves.
