SANDPOINT — Under Sandpoint Public Works director Kody Van Dyk's leadership, many of the city's long-term goals have come to fruition. When he retired Tuesday after more than 25 years on the job, he left a legacy of good works that will benefit the city now and in the years ahead.

"Kody's just a great guy to work with. He has a great attitude," said Sandpoint mayor Shelby Rognstad. "We've had a really stable department under Kody, and I think that speaks well of his leadership."

Since Van Dyk began his tenure in September 1990, said Rognstad, "Sandpoint has grown up a lot. Certainly, back then we didn't have a street department."
