Leona was born on May 29, 1920, in Sawyer, Idah0,o to August and Franciska Fox. She grew up on the family farm on the Dufort Road in Sagle, Idaho, and lived her entire life on the Dufort Road until July 2011 when she moved into the Bridge Assisted Living in Sandpoint. It is believed she was the oldest living person to have lived that many years on Dufort Road.

Leona attended eight years of school at the Seneac-quoteen grade school, and graduated from Sandpoint High School, located at Pine and Euclid, in 1938.

She attended Lewiston State Normal School and received her degree in elementary education. She taught school at the North Star, Elmira, and Long schools. She remembers her first pay check for one month was $75, which included janitorial services, carrying wood for the wood stove, building the fire early in the morning, sweeping the floors with a broom and oily sawdust to help keep dust at a minimum, heating one pail of water for students to wash their hands, and storing the drinking water in a crock cooler in the hallway for the students.

Leona married Glen Judge on July 30, 1945, and changed her career from teaching to dairy farming, and raising certified seed potatoes for which they received numerous blue ribbons at the Bonner County Fair. In 1970, they sold the dairy cows and went into a beef cattle operation so they could enjoy some traveling.

Leona was a lifetime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a longtime member of the Triangle United Extension Club, and a past member of the Westmond Grange and the Pomona Grange. She was also a member of the Bonner County Cowbelles for many years. Leona was an active member of St. Joseph’s Altar Society and she especially enjoyed quilting, crocheting, fishing and traveling. Leona served many years as superintendent of foods at the Bonner County Fair.

Leona was preceded in death by Glen, her husband of 56 years; her parents; three sisters, Mary Boothe, Rosa Meyer, and her twin sister, Leota Judge; and two brothers, John Fox and Albert Fox.

Leona is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
