Davidson, trio of relays shine for Bulldogs in track opener
LEWISTON — A host of Bulldogs turned in strong performances, led by sophomore Hannah Davidson, who clocked a 2:26 to win the 800 and post the fastest time in the state in the process, leading the Bulldog track team on Saturday at the Lewiston Invite.
The 4X100 relay team of Kyle Perry, Jackson Diercks, Kaleb Merrill and Colton Engel, won their race in 44.39 and currently owns the fastest time in the state as well. Engel also popped a huge early season just to post a 20-2 and place fifth in the long jump, helping the Bulldog boys finish eighth among 17 teams.
Both boys and girls Distance Medley Relay teams took first place, with the girls team of Katherine Kaul, Niah Brass, Rainey Woodward and Davidson clocking a 13:16 and getting the Pasco Qualifying time by 44 seconds. The boys teamm of Peik Lund-Andersen, Mark Kennaly, Finan Lund-Andersen and Jacob Graham ran a 11:09, beating the Pasco Qualifying time by 21 seconds.
Sophomore Katherine Kaul had a strong meet as well, posting the second fastest 3,200 time in the 4A state ranks to finish fourth in 12:00. The Bulldog girls finished seventh among 16 teams.
Other strong performances from the Bulldog girls included Corinne McClelland finishing third in the 800, and Woodward fifth in the 400 in 1:03.3, the fourth fastest time in the state. Kali Scheel finished sixth in the 1,600, Janice Aylward was sixth in the shot put and Madi Schoening sixth in the long jump.
Bulldog boys meet medalists: Mark Kennaly third in the 800, Jacob Graham fourth in the 3,200 and Finan Lund-Andersen was fifth. Carlos Collado was fifth in the shot to round out the boys placers.
At a JV meet in Lapwai, Shelby Flathers took 3rd in the 100 and Lacie Redding was 7th. Jazmin Stockton was 4th in the 200 and Flathers was seventh. Heather Yunek was 6th in the 400, Brooke Davis was 3rd in the 100m Hurdles, Reannan Jackman was 3rd in the shot put, Lillian Anderson was 5th in the high jump, Lacie Redding was 5th in the Pole Vault and 3rd in the Long Jump 13' 8.5”. The Bulldog girls were 5th out of 17 teams.
The Bulldog boys has six runners under 13 seconds in the 100 with the hand held conversion, with Levi Irish leading the way with a 9th place 12.24. Payton Finney was 6th in the 400, Tyrell Murray was 3rd in the shot put, Cole Hooper was 2nd in the pole vault after clearing 11 feet, and Lane Rasmussen and Slade Rucker each finished 4th vaulting 10-6.
The Bulldog track team heads to the Bonners Ferry Invite on Saturday.
