COEUR d'ALENE — Showing depth and talent that makes them one of the top tennis teams in North Idaho, the Bulldogs dispatched the 5A Vikings 11-1 in a dual Wednesday at Coeur d'Alene High School.

“We finally had our full team together and it showed. Everything clicked today,” said Bulldog head coach Kent Anderson. “We're starting to get close to what our district team will look like, just a few more minor adjustments.”

Senior Jake Aguirre battled to a hard fought win at No. 1 singles, grinding out a third set tie-breaker 7-4, while Jacob Jackson notched a convincing straight set win at No. 2 doubles.

“Jake relied on his speed and smart ground strokes to wear down his opponent,” said Anderson, also praising the play of Jackson. “He frustrated his opponent with big top-spin ground strokes combined with nasty slices; tough combination.”

Sandpoint is at Moscow on Wednesday in the 4A IEL opener.
