Bennett leads Badgers past Bulldogs in pitcher's duel
BONNERS FERRY — Vince Bennett took a one-hitter into the seventh inning for the Badgers, who beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs 3-1 in a nonleague game on Friday in Bonners Ferry.
“We just battled hard and played great defense,” Bonners Ferry coach Tom Turpin said. “We just need to get better at pushing runs across the plate. Vince did a good job of limiting runs.”
Walker Jacobson kept the Bulldogs in the game with five solid innings on the mound, as the Badgers finished with just five hits. Caleb Edlund ripped a double, and Paul Sundquist and Talon Dewey each had hits for the Bulldogs in the loss.
Bonners Ferry visits Sandpoint today for a doubleheader starting at noon at War Memorial Field.
