Gertrude Evlyn Baker, 94

Gertrude Evlyn Baker, 94, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at the Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

She was a seven-year resident of the Extended Care Unit, where she received good and loving care from Dr. Botkin and the staff.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home in Bonners Ferry, with interment in the Porthill Cemetery.

Gertrude was born on Oct. 31, 1921 in Lewis-town, Mont., to Cary Budd and Agnes Pearl (Mont-gomery) Baker. She come by covered wagon to the Porthill, Idaho, area in 1922. She attended the Montgomery and Roosevelt schools and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1941.

She married Sandford Lewis Baker on Oct. 21, 1944. Except for a brief stay in Oregon and Washington, the couple lived in Porthill and Bonners Ferry all their lives. To this marriage, three children were born.

Gertrude worked with the Parent Teacher Association at Mt. Hall School which her children attended.

Gertrude joined the Rebecca Lodge in 1942. She was a member for about 59 years when the lodge disbanded. She was a faithful Bonners Ferry Herald subscriber since 1955.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford, in 1981; her parents; 21 brothers, sisters, and half-brothers and sisters; two granddaughters, Joni Christine and Keri Sue; and a great-granddaughter, Mardi Lynn.

She is survived by her three children, William (Bill) Baker, Agnes (Aggie) Moran, and Linda Baker, all of Bonners Ferry; five grandchildren, Lynn Curley and husband Russ of Bellingham, Wash., Barbara Farrish of Missoula, Mont., Dwayne Baker and wife Kari of Layton, Utah, Donny Baker and wife Angela of Bonners Ferry, and Mindy Baker of Sandpoint, Idaho; her great-grandchildren, Matthew Brazee of Missoula, Mont., Kayla and Gabe Baker of North Carolina, Justin Kelley of Sandpoint, and Madison and Mitchell Zanto of Sandpoint; extended family, Adam Geggatt of Boise, Idaho, Eric Geggatt of Arlington, Mass.; great-great-granddaughter, Melody Rae Borden of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
