PRIEST RIVER — Questions are outstripping answers following the stabbing of a Priest River man early Friday morning,

There is no question an East Lincoln resident was stabbed in the torso sometime before 1 a.m., although there was no suspect or obvious motive as of Monday, according to Priest River Police Chief Drew McLain,

The alleged victim without question suffered a stab wound as evidenced by the knife protruding from the man's body, McLain said.

The victim, 30, possessed the knowledge not to withdraw the blade without surgical assistance and is expected to recover from the bodily insult.

He was stabilized at Newport Community Hospital and transferred to a Spokane hospital, where he was released.

The alleged victim told police he saw furtive movements outside his back door and went to investigate. A motion-activated light was triggered and the alleged approached through a decorative gate.

A physical altercation ensued and the alleged victim felt a sharp pain. McLain said the alleged victim was unaware of anybody woud attack hin.

“He didn't know who the person was,” said McLain.

However, Priest River Police ruled out any connection with a suspect wanted in a stabbing murder in Nampa earlier this month. The suspects were located in Bonner County, but managed to give his pursuers the slip,

McLain said the incident remains under investigation.
