Baldree no-no, Holland home run lead Bulldogs

| March 31, 2016 10:25 PM

SANDPOINT — Bri Baldree continues to mow through lineups, striking out 15 while walking only one in a no-hitter, leading the Bulldogs to a 10-0 win over Priest River in the opener of a nonleague softball doubleheader on Thursday at Sandpoint Middle School.

Her battery mate Sam Holland, who is swinging a white-hot bat right now, went 3 for 3 with three runs and three RBIs, including a towering 200 plus foot home run to end the game. The two were more than enough for the Bulldogs.

“She was locked in, hitting her spots. She was dominant today,” described Bulldog head coach Elizabeth Hawkins-Williams of her sophomore ace, also praising her catcher. “Sam's on fire. Coming into this game she was hitting .667, and she went 3 for 3. Her bat is on fire, it's awesome.”

Bri Barlow added three runs and three stolen bases, and Sierra Nicholson three RBIs for the Bulldogs (5-3).

In the second game, Lindsay Guthrie went 4 for 4 and drove in three runs to lead an offensive outburst, as they pounded out 18 hits in a 21-7 football score win.

Sierra Nicholson and Holland each had three hits, and Bri Barlow scored four times, as the Bulldogs plated 17 runs in the first two innings.

Thia Butler ripped a double for one of the Spartans' four hits in the second game.

Sandpoint is off until April 11 against Moscow.
