Bulldogs dominate doubles in 4A IEL opening win

MOSCOW — Once again playing shorthanded, the Bulldogs' depth proved valuable, claiming an 8-4 win over the Bears in a 4A Inland Empire League tennis dual on Wednesday in Moscow.

Laney Search and Violet Plummer teamed up at No. 1 doubles for the first time, as did the No. 2 team of Allura Livingston and April Clark, and the two teams didn't so much as drop a game in a doubles sweep.

“Allura dominated the net while April's ground strokes kept their opponents pinned on the baseline. Strong win for those two,” said head coach Kent Anderson. “Laney and Violet won almost every point with quickness, power and placement.”

Jacob Jackson used his speed and strong shot selection to win a big match No. 2 boys singles, and Cassidy Story won at No. 1 girls singles for the lone singles wins on the day.

Sandpoint also swept the boys and mixed doubles.

The Bulldogs are at Mead on Tuesday, during rare spring break action.
