Government is our way of working together. We voters are the directors of our government. Some of us are personally involved with specific commissions or committees, but largely, we all count on the press to keep us informed.

To the degree the press tell us how our elected leaders are performing, we will be able to make reasonable decisions. Our founding fathers emphasized the critical importance of an independent press to the functioning of democracy.

If you, the press, have information, negative or positive, which can help us in our decisions as we vote for county commissioners and sheriff, we as voters need that information.

Thank you, press, for performing a critically important function in our community.
