In a recent letter to the editor, someone said that the electoral college should be eliminated. I cannot understand why any resident of Idaho would favor this idea.
Had it not been for the genius of the framers of the Constitution to include the Electoral College there probably would not be a United States. The smaller states (in population) rightly feared the total dominance of the larger states if the president were elected by direct vote and each state did not have two senators. How would you like to live in a country where states Like Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and California dominated the national political landscape and states like Idaho would have little or no say on the national scene?
