BOISE — Students in grades 5 through 12 from throughout Idaho participated in the sixth annual “Look to the Forest” Arbor Day photo contest sponsored by the Idaho Forest Products Commission. A total of 230 photographs were submitted for consideration in the contest, which asked students to portray what they see when they “look to the forest.”

One grand prize winner, three division winners and 19 honorable mentions were selected by a panel of judges. Frances DePhillips of Sage International School in Boise won first place in the 7-8 grade division and was also named the overall grand prize winner for her photo, “Colors of Nature.” In honor of her winning photo, DePhillips will receive a $100 cash prize and was honored at the state Arbor Day Ceremony on April 29. As first place winners of the three grade divisions, DePhillips along with Thomas Blackmore of Bonners Ferry and Cody Allred of Council will each receive a $50 cash prize.
