The April 28 Republican candidate forum in Sandpoint was truly revealing about the quality of commissioner candidates Dan McDonald and Lewis Rich.

I came away with the distinct impression that Mr. Rich simply wanted the seat back he had warmed for six years with little to show for it and tried to put the best spin on it. He took no responsibility for anything; his default position was to blame, accuse, and defend the status quo against people who want to change things from the way they were.

Mr. McDonald was refreshing in his in-depth knowledge of the issues, which he explained clearly and succinctly. As a proponent of property rights and an opponent of government overreach and regulation, he discussed what stifles economic opportunity and gave examples people could relate to.

The top county position requires a top-quality candidate. Please vote for Dan McDonald for District 3 commissioner.
