May 5, 1966 - KALB TAKES COURSE

Bob Kalb, owner of Benoit’s Bootery, will leave on May 8 for Portland for a one-week course of study at Dr. Scholl’s professional shoe fitting seminar May 9 through 13.

Kalb is taking part in this specialized training along with other selected representatives of shoe stores of the Pacific Northwest.

The seminar is under the direct supervision of Dr. W. M. Scholl, noted foot authority. The course covers many phases of the care and treatment of feet and professional shoe fitting.

HAROLD RUEN, 52, DIES MONDAY

Born in Clark Fork and graduated from the Clark Fork High School and the University of Idaho, for the past 16 years Mr. Ruen had been employed as a Naval architect at the Bremerton Shipyards.

Among his survivors are two brothers, Dorien and Vernon Ruen, both of Clark Fork.

Beginning May 6, the banks of Sandpoint will be closed Saturday afternoons from 12 noon to 6 o’clock p.m. They will open on Saturday evening, as usual, from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock p.m. Signed, A.W. Bowden, Cashier, First National Bank; C.E. Wailes, Cashier, Bonner County National Bank.

LEAGUE REBUKES EDUCATION BOARD

According to a statement made by Mayor Himes at Wednesday’s Development league meeting, all but three property owners in the proposed Central school paving district have signed up, which practically assures the work. The mayor stated that though the voters of the school district had voted for the paving, the Board of Education was still hesitating about signing the petition. The Development League unanimously voted to notify the board that the League desires that they at once officially sign the petition.

NEWS FROM OUR NEIGHBORS

Hope — The work of the piano tuner on the new electric piano at the hall has made a great improvement in the tone.

Oden — This Sunday the Oden Union Sunday school will be resumed at 10 o’clock a.m. Rev. E.W. Hillis of Spokane will hold sermon at 11 a.m.

Coolin — Nearly all the boats are running now. The steamer W.W. Slee made a trip to Eight Mile Island Sunday, so it seems like summer here.

Mr. and Mrs. Chant have a new Victrola and many fine records.

The Lamb Creek school is planning a picnic at Cary’s Beach Saturday.
