SANDPOINT — The depth that will make them tough at districts was on full display Wednesday, as the Bulldogs rolled to a decisive 11-1 win over Lakeland in a 4A Inland Empire League dual at Travers Park.

Logan Temple won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, showing why he’s earned the mantle of No. 1 singles on arguably the top team in North Idaho.

“He was pounding big serves and solid backhands throughout the match and really never let up,” described head coach Kent Anderson. “His focus is incredible.”

Senior Cassidy Story had to be patient against a gritty opponent, but played a smart match and walked away with a hard-earned straight set win. Story has added some weapons to her offensive game, but can still rely on defense and consistency when need be.

Cory Diehl also had to grind out some long points to score a straight set win at No. 2 boys singles, earning the respect of Anderson.

“Cory has become so much more consistent this year and it showed today with several long rallies of 10 or more shots,” said Anderson. “It was a good win as we continue to prepare for Districts.”

Both Bulldog girls doubles teams rolled to easy wins, and figure to be the top seeds heading into districts.

The freshman duo of Allura Livington and Declan Plummer notched a win at No. 2 mixed doubles.

“These two freshmen are both so quick and athletic,” praised Anderson. “The future looks bright with these two on the team.”
