Shorty Blood, 75, passed away at his home in Ponderay, Idaho, on Monday, May 2, 2016.
A memorial service, and a celebration of Shorty’s life, will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Bonner County Fairgrounds. A reception will follow the services.
Shorty was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Aug. 10, 1940, the son of Arnold and Daisy Blood. He grew up in the Vay/Edgemere area, attending school in Spirit Lake.
He started in the woods as a young man, becoming a gypo logger. He would start S. Blood Co. Inc, and become one of the first to establish a mechanized logging operation. The company is now a core contracting company for IFG. He enjoyed buying, and selling, logging equipment at sales and auctions.
On Feb. 10, 1979, he would marry Sherry Hart in Las Vegas, Nev., and they would raise their family in the Sandpoint area.
He is survived by his wife and companion for 45 years, Sherry Blood in Ponderay; three children, Shane (and Jutta) Blood in Sagle, Idaho, Faith Blood in Sagle, and James Blood in Sandpoint, Idaho; and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, A. Kay Galland in Vay, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Shorty will be remembered as an honorable and kind man.
