Stevens siblings punch tickets to state golf tournament

OROFINO — St. Maries and Genesis Prep won team titles, but Clark Fork brother and sister Wade and Brooke Stevens each qualified for the state 2A boys golf tournament, leading the Wampus Cats at the 2A District 1-2 tourney at Orofino Golf Course on Monday.

Wade Stevens, a sophomore, finished third among the six teams in attendance with a 92, while freshman Brooke finished second overall with a 110 to earn her spot at state.

It’s been years since the Wampus Cats had a golfer get to state, and with a couple more years left for the Stevens, this could be the start of good things to come.

The 2A state tournament is next Monday and Tuesday at the RedHawk Golf Course in Nampa.
