Film fest is 'Show of Shows'

| May 12, 2016 1:00 AM

The Panida Theater has entered into Ron Diamond’s glorious, artistic animated world by welcoming the first-ever theater-hosted 17th annual “Animated Show of Shows”.

This compilation of shorts entails the best films from around the globe including picks from the academy. This Show of Shows opens in the big Panida Theater on Thursday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. The techniques you will see range from hand-drawn, paint on glass and stop-motion, to the latest computer-generated imagery. The emotions range from heart-warming, laugh your guts out, to how do I feel about that?

From the mountaintops with two very persistent climbers to the hardwood floors of March Madness, you will find it all at this truly entertaining and brilliantly combined display of genuine artists.

The Animated Show of Shows times are in the Panida Theater are May 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 13, at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater; at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 14, in the Little Theater; and at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, May 15, in the Panida Little Theater. Note that each showing is the complete show.

Tickets available at the door or online at www.panida.org.

Also of note: This is the last chance this week to catch “Papa: Hemmingway in Cuba.” Saturday features comedian Randy Liedtke and, coming soon, is Tom Hanks in “Hologram for a King”, “Louder Than Bombs”, “Sing Street”, “Hockney, Love & Friendship”, and “Purple Rain” honoring Prince’s birthday.

Patricia Walker is the executive director of the Panida Theater.
