I read a letter written by Maureen Patterson regarding the Pharmacy Act Bill. I contacted Shawn Keough on behalf of myself and the Big Sky Association of Medical Equipment Suppliers, asking her to support it. Miss Patterson said that it was another government overreach; it was actually a bill designed to keep medical equipment available to the citizens of Idaho.
This is complicated and I have very limited space. Medicare has allowed low-ball bids by out-of-area providers. These companies are not wanting to provide service and are driving small businesses like mine out of business. This not only hurts my business, it hurts the person needing the service.
The bill Shawn supported, at my request, basically said if you want a pharmacy license in Idaho, you have to be in Idaho. Shawn was listening to a small business — and trying to help it.
