1. Having successfully served in my community for decades, and seeing the recent issues that are happening within the county government, I felt that I needed to become involved.
2. My people skills are one of my greatest assets and have brought positive transformations to the area. I treat others with respect and appreciate their points of view even if it doesn’t match mine.
3. Land use is a hot issue right now and I feel there are many concerns that need to be looked at. Going through lawsuit after lawsuit is not getting us to where we need to be. Good communication with the Planning and Zoning Commission is essential.
4. I would like to see a recycling program for the county and make sure solid waste sites have personnel there.
Ut- ilize the “good neighbor” policy as set forth in the 2014 Farm Bill, ensuring healthier forests and safer communities.
5. I would like to see a more open door policy and more transparency to involve the public and their concerns. The public hearings should be held at a more convenient time for the public. Perhaps evening meetings would better serve the public.
6. Right now, there is a lack of transparency, a lack of public involvement and failure to follow the policy and procedures manual. There is also a serious lack of morale among the county employees which needs to be addressed.
7. Good employees are in place in the county and they need to be encouraged and respected in order to continue the work they are asked to do. The Road and Bridge program is doing great work and continuing that cycle is important.
8. I find this to be a waste of taxpayer dollars, especially in light of the fact that many of these lawsuit issues could’ve been avoided through constructive dialogue between the parties involved and following the procedures that are part of the governing body.
9. I look forward to working with the constituents and employees who are amazing assets to Bonner County. I also look forward to moving the county in a professional and progressive manner which will benefit us all.
10. Well, if it is a community, I would say each has their challenges. Working closely with community leaders to find common solutions to help them move towards their goals is what is important.
11. Protecting jobs and bringing more job opportunities to Bonner County. Also, working closely with all the communities to make sure they are thriving and have the ability to preserve the quality of life we all desire.
12. Well, according to some, I am being accused of not being conservative enough. I believe trying to bring solutions forward and not being too narrow minded is the way people want to be governed. As a public servant, it is my responsibility to serve everyone.
13. The importance of effective communication with county employees and with all constituents.
14. What direction should property rights go in?
There are two sides to property rights. the rights of the property owner and the rights of the adjacent property owner. The difficulty is making both sides work.
Most property owners will do the right thing, but sideboards are needed to encourage all to do the right thing.
