1. If we are not a part of the solution, we are a part of the problem. After seeing the problems in our state

and country, tiring of waiting for someone else to step up, I decided to come forward and do what I can

to improve our state and region.

2. Experience in small business (15 years in an accounting practice, seven years as a legal assistant); knowledge of our natural resource economy through 29 years of marriage to someone employed mainly in the mining industry; and having grown up in a community with an economic base similar to our district.

3. Unemployment, state and federal over-regulation, and public land management and use. These are all essential to our economy which, in our district, still lags behind compared to the rest of the state and country.

4. By opposing increased regulation by the state, supporting efforts for greater state and local management of public lands, opposing tax in- creases, and supporting efforts by the state to do what it can to oppose increased federal involvement in what are rightfully state affairs under the 10th Amendment.

5. I am not in this to create a “legacy” for myself. I simply hope to continue to do the best that I can in representing the views of our district in the Idaho Legislature.

8. The day starts at 7 a.m.to prepare for the State Affairs Committee meeting. After the committee meeting, there is the House floor session, then other committee meetings.. Then I will stay at my office until about 5 p.m. to return calls, meet with people, and prepare for the next day. There are also often evening receptions hosted by various groups.

9. Dealing with people one on one and handling new, challenging issues that come up in each session.

10. See my answers to Questions 3 and 4 above.

11. Actually, I would say that most of the significant issues facing our district are being given adequate coverage.

12. I have been criticized for not speaking to certain reporters regarding certain votes this past session. I respond by saying that these reporters have been unfair to me in the past, so I prefer to answer constituents’ questions directly, and will issue press releases if it is an area of broad concern.

13. Carefully review the incumbents’ records, and challengers’ statements and responses to various surveys, so that they can make an informed decision.

14. The first question. It is important to know the candidates’ motivation for seeking office.
