We were delighted to learn that Carolyn Gleason has been named a 2016 Woman of Wisdom. Carolyn’s contributions to our community exceed the obvious and tremendous benefits that Sandpoint has received from the millions of dollars injected into the community, and the public relations and goodwill generated by her tireless work on Lost in the ’50s weekend, which for her represents a yearly effort, every year for decades.

Perhaps even more importantly, she has mentored and employed hundreds of young people, instilling in them the value of a work ethic through training and patience at her Second Avenue Pizza restaurant and, prior to that, the landmark Garden Restaurant. Her “team” loved her and many have become successful in their lives due, in part, to her tutelage. Some may remember the Garden Restaurant’s entries in the early Winter Carnival parades (1970s) as being unbeatable due to her enthusiastic and creative leadership; the many gatherings of families and friends she has catered with delicious food and friendship — she has touched so many Sandpoint lives.

Carolyn is truly a treasure to this community.
