Holbert graduates from University of Idaho

SHS Graduate Evan Holbert son of John and Leslie Holbert graduated from University of Idaho’s electrical engineering program on May 14.

Holbert has been interning with Schweitzer Engineering in Pullman, Wash., where he will continue fulltime upon graduation.

EWU academic honors

Eastern Washington University has announced the names of students who earned a spot on the winter quarter dean’s list.

An undergraduate student who earns 12 quality hours and receives a GPA of 3.5 or better is placed on the dean’s list for the quarter.

Students from Bonner and Boundary counties who were named to the list include: Brian Moore, Naples; Jourdan Holubasch, Oldtown; Andrew Huddleston, Priest River; Jenna Erban, Priest River; Amanda Lee, Sandpoint; and Kelley Kindred, Spirit Lake.

Graceland students named to showcase

LAMONI, Iowa — Graceland University student scholars from a variety of academic disciplines were selected to present their research and work to an audience of fellow students, faculty and visitors.

n Paul Hill of Sagle was selected for a poster presentation in science and math with the title, “Leaf Area Index of Coniferous Trees.”

n Joshua Hill of Sagle was selected for a poster presentation in science and math with the title, “Game Time Graphics, a Business Solution Case Study.”

The goal of the annual event is to develop a culture of high quality research, scholarship and creative activities. The showcase is an opportunity for students and professors to professionally demonstrate their scholarly works for the entire campus to see, and enables all schools to see each other’s work in one place. Scholarly works are represented by posters, presentations, demonstrations, senior projects, art shows, musical instrument recitals and more.

Owens earns degree at Western Washington

Rachel Owen, Sandpoint High School class of 2011, will be graduating in June from Western Washington University with bachelor of science degrees in both physics and mathematics.

In addition she will receive an honors diploma for successful completion of the university honors program.

Rachel has been accepted to the University of Michigan for graduate studies and will start a doctoral program in physics this fall, where she is also the recipient of a Rackham Science Award Fellowship.
