Doris Maud Hoagland, 93

Doris Maud Hoagland, 93, passed away in Sandpoint on Friday, May 13, 2016.

Family services, and inurnment, will be held later in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Doris was born on Sept. 25, 1922, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of John and Carrie Howick. She grew up in Salt Lake City, graduating from South High School, and married Bud Hoagland, in Pocatello, Idaho, on Jan. 1, 1943.

During World War II, she lived in Edmonton, Canada, where her husband was a pilot. Following the war, she returned to Salt Lake City, also living in Denver and Los Angeles. The family retired to Hope, Idaho, in 1976.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and volunteered as a mentor at the Clark Fork High School. Doris enjoyed fishing, sewing, cooking for her family and loved to study history.

She is survived by three children, Dean (and Ginny) Hoagland in Hope, Kaye (and David) Lombardi in Norco, Calif., and Susan (and Harvey) Ruff in Warden, Wash.; four grandchildren, Maxwell (and Sandra), Julianne, Lori and Lisa; and six great-grandchildren, Max, Sean, Reeyce, Issac, Avah and Kendall. Also surviving is her brother, Eldon Howick in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; two sisters and three brothers.
