SAGLE — One person was killed Tuesday after being pinned by a vehicle that he and another person were attempting to repair, according to Idaho State Police.

State police said the driver and passenger were attempted to fix their stalled 1992 Ford Taurus when the vehicle began to roll. Both men tried to hold the sedan to keep it from rolling.

State police said the 56-year-old driver was thrown over an embankment and became caught between trees and the car. He died at the scene. The passenger, 55, was flung into the roadway and escaped injury, according to an ISP news release.

The second-generation Taurus has a curb weight of 3,118 pounds, according to manufacturing specifications posted online.

The identities of the driver and passenger were withheld Wednesday pending the notification of kin, state police said.

The mishap occurred at 7:34 p.m. in the 700 block of Gun Club Road.

ISP said the incident remained under investigation on Wednesday.

The driver is the second motorist to be killed in Bonner County this year.
